staying up through the night and recording songs before falling asleep sipping wine to true dectective reruns at dawn: that’s how rock n’ roll cold wave duo, onđes /ohn-dess/ , from brooklyn, ny spends its time. jenn arras (guitar, vox) first met nathan zanki (guitar, sampler, drum machine) at saint vitus. Not until months later, after running into each other repeadedly at local shows, did the duo coalesce over an affinity for cyberpunk films blade runner and ghost in the shell, and philosophical ramblings on the absurd and spacetime. they announce their début EP, tout est magique? to release on 24-OCT, 2024—a treastise on dystopian new york after dark, where everything seems possible but the yearning never ends and the incessant clock refuses to slow down, from dusk until impending dawn. two videos will accompany the EP for “Saturn” and “Skin.”propelled by arras’ gritty rhythm lines—she exclusively plays fingerstyle on electric—and zanki’s reverb-soaked atmospheres, tout est magique? reimagines one of those nights—dancing, playing music, aimlessly wandering the streets, glimmering neon, a smoky haze, melancholy dance tunes.
